Spotlight On: Keesha Boyd

Keesha_headshotIn celebration of our four years of creating The Vyne and we thought we would turn the spotlight and share a little bit about us with you.

Twitter Handle: @thekeeshab

Hometown:  Originally from New York (Strong Island!) but I’m a military brat so I’ve lived in a few other places as well.

Current City: Philadelphia

Roles you play in life: Daughter, friend, soror (Delta Sigma Theta!), psychotherapist, Links sister, content guru, television enthusiast, writer, friend to small furry animals

Education: BA from Emory University, MA/MEd Columbia University, Executive Leadership Development Program UCLA Anderson School of Management.

Occupation: Co-founder of Stone 109 (mastermind behind and The Vyne) and Executive Director at a large Media/Communications company.

3 words that describe you:  Confident, Creative, Courageous, A fan of the letter “C”, Not a fan of following directions

Favorite things to write about: Love/Relationships, Pop culture, TV, Movies, Current Events, Random Funny Observations

Shuffle your iPhone – what’s the first song that comes up?: Oh good lord…after about three “hood hits” what eventually came up was Lauren Hill’s “X Factor” (“It could allllll be so simple“…woosh…moment of silence on that song)

What are your top three latest obsessions: 1) Books by women in Comedy (I recently read Bossy Pants by Tina Fey, Girl Walks Into a Bar by Rachel Dratch and Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling–all hilariously funny!), 2) My Tod’s black suede driver shoe (they feel like buttah! shout out to Shannel for convincing me to buy them!) and 3) Binge watching shows on Xfinity OnDemand (Finally watched all of Downton Abbey — loved it!! Can’t wait for Season 4!)

What is your favorite travel destination?: Hmmm….I love to be near water so anyplace with a great beach is a hit with me. I’ve enjoyed traveling to Puerto Rico for that reason. I also really enjoyed the romantic, care free vibe of Paris. When I’m stay-cating…it’s all about NYC.

What beauty product can’t you live without?:  Recently started using facial cleansing and moisturizing products from Lierac (a French brand), my Cocoa Lait lip gloss by Laura Mercier and my Sensorielle body oil by Lierac.

Finish this sentence, “To feel more centered I…”: Give myself a reiki treatment, visualize and say positive affirmations

Who is your celebrity fashion inspiration?:  Probably a cross between Jessica Alba’s day style and Scandal’s Olivia Pope’s business style.

What words do you live by?: “Wherever you go…there you are” –Buddhism, “How you do anything, is how you do everything” –Unknown

What do you enjoy most about creating The Vyne: What I enjoy most is reading and researching what’s new, now and next in the lives of women like us and then helping to ensure everyone stays informed. Sometimes it feels like we’re having one big best friends conversation…especially when I hear from readers that a particular article really resonated or was on a topic they recently talked with their friends about. We’re providing a service in a lot of ways. A service that’s positive, entertaining and informative.

If your readers could leave with one thing after visiting or reading The Vyne, what would it be?
I hope they can leave feeling connected to a larger community of women. I hope they find comfort in knowing there are many women out there with some of the same interests, likes, dislikes, fears, hopes, dreams. I want our readers to learn something new and feel inspired to share their perspectives and pass them on. I want them to know The Vyne and Vyne World are a trusted source…their one stop shop.
