Spotlight On: Kailei (Richardson) Carr
In celebration of our four years of creating The Vyne and VyneWorld.com we thought we would turn the spotlight and share a little bit about us with you.
Twitter Handle: @kaileirich
Hometown: Originally from South Jersey, though I’ve lived in nine different states.
Current City: Chicago
Roles you play in life: Fiance, daughter, aunt, niece, friend, soror (Delta Sigma Theta!), expert bargain shopper, lifestyle enthusiast, marketing and digital media maven
Education: BA from Emory University, MBA from Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University
Occupation: Co-founder of Stone 109 (mastermind behind VyneWorld.com and The Vyne) and Director of Marketing at PointRoll
3 words that describe you: Energetic, positive, driven
Favorite things to write about: Fashion, beauty, current events, travel
Shuffle your iPhone – what’s the first song that comes up?: Amel Larrieux – For Real
What are your top three latest obsessions: Pinterest (I’m planning a wedding and there’s so much great stuff there!), Scandal (particularly Olivia Pope’s fashion), Tom Ford’s lipstick (I just bought a red that I’m loving — it’s moisturizing and not too committal as far as reds go)
What is your favorite travel destination?: I can’t just pick one: Paris, Bangkok and anyplace with a great beach
What beauty product can’t you live without?: My MAC Studio Fix in C6. As a girl with very sensitive skin, I don’t know why this works for me, but it does. Been using it for over a decade and every time I stray away, I come back!
Finish this sentence, “To feel more centered I…”: meditate
Who is your celebrity fashion inspiration?: Halle Berry
What words do you live by?: “To accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream, not only plan, but also believe.” – Anatole France
What do you enjoy most about creating The Vyne: Being a surrogate “best friend” to our readers and filling a void for other women of the 21st century out there. With all of the media outlets available, it is rare to find something that shows intelligent women in a positive light that accurately reflects their diverse interests and facets of their lives. Many of my peers and I are trying to have it all — families, careers, comfortable and beautiful lifestyle — and we’re all trying to figure it all out and learn from each other in the process.
If your readers could leave with one thing after visiting VyneWorld.com or reading The Vyne, what would it be?
I hope they can leave feeling like they’ve learned something new, are inspired to do something more or feel connected to the rest of Vyne World through our content and community.
