Breaking News: Susan Rice Withdraws from Secretary of State Consideration

After a barrage of questioning from Republicans and being in the hot seat for the past few weeks, today the White House announced that UN Ambassador Susan Rice is withdrawing her name from consideration for the Secretary of State position.  President Obama issued the following statement: “I deeply regret the unfair and misleading attacks on Susan Rice in recent weeks [but] her decision demonstrates the strength of her character, and an admirable commitment to rise above the politics of the moment to put our national interests first.”

Once current Secretary of State Clinton announced she was not serving for another term and Ambassador Rice’s name was mentioned as a possible candidate, Republicans jumped on criticizing how Ambassador Rice handled questions about the Benghazi attack while on the talk show circuit.

Is it surprising that she is withdrawing her name? No, though unfortunate as she is highly qualified and, in our opinion, would have been a great representative for our country in that position.

So, Vyne World, what do you think about Ambassador Rice’s decision?
