Making Your Accessories Work with Your Work Attire

Have you ever bought a belt, shoes, or jewelry and ended up wearing the same things with the same outfits? Or, do you get stuck trying to figure out which accessories to wear with which outfits? Here are some ideas on how to work some accessories — a pair of sandals, earrings and a belt — with some summer work looks:

Look #1: Peplum Blouse and Pencil Skirt

A Peplum blouse works well with a medium or large belt. These sandals and earrings make this a really classy look.

Blouse: Tinley Road Petal Peplum Blouse

Earrings: Teardrop Square Earrings

Shoes: Stevie Sandal by Rachel Zoe

Belt: Chestnut Belt

Look #2: Dress with String Belt

Sometimes it’s easy to get wrapped up in how a garment is presented. Here we have a dress that comes with its own belt, but don’t think you are limited to that (the “pre-populated” belts are never that good anyway!). Take out the string and add this belt on top of it and the dress has some added structure and dimension.

Belt: Chestnut Belt

Look #3: Flowy Blouse with Straight Legged Colorful Pants

Though color-blocking is in, I also like a colored pant with a cream or neutral blouse. In this outfit we omitted the belt due to the structure of the shirt. But the earrings and sandals round out this outfit into something classier than if the same pieces were worn with a ballet shoe and stud earrings.

Pants: Vince Camuto Skinny Ankle Pants
