You Are What You Eat: Skin Edition

As we all should know by now, the saying “you are what you eat” is true! A while back we gave you a list of superfoods that can help your body stay healthy. Now we want to give you foods you can eat that will also keep your skin healthy:

Mangos: Mangos, like carrots, are rich in vitamin A which helps to repair skin tissue and prevents premature aging.

Avocados: Rich in essential oils which moisturize skin, as well as Niacin, which reduces inflammation and soothes skin.

Oranges: The vitamin C from oranges helps produce collagen which prevents the skin from wrinkling and helps it stay taut.

Almonds: Almonds are rich in vitamin E, which helps maintain the skin’s moisture and prevents premature aging.

Salmon: The omega-3 fatty acids in salmon help to create healthy cell membranes. This can help reduce clogged pores, fine lines, and inflammation.

Mushrooms: This fungus is rich in riboflavin (vitamin B2) which can aid in skin repair and improve skin conditions like acne and rosacea.

Cantaloupe: Eating cantaloupe can improve your complexion, creating clear, radiant skin. Its high water content combined with vitamins A and C help nourish and promote healthy, youthful skin.

Foods that can aggravate skin:

– High glycemic foods (white bread, cake, candy)

– Foods high in saturated fats

– Fried foods

– Salt

– Alcohol
