Where did the idea of your business come from?: I’ve always wanted to be an entrepreneur, it was just a matter of what and when. The online retail industry is continuously evolving and I knew I wanted to be a part of it. I-ELLA combines my interest in Fashion, Business + Technology and Philanthropy.
When did you start your business?: I’ve been working on the concept since 2008, built the platform in 2010 and we officially opened I-ELLA.com in April of 2011 prior to then, it was a closed, invitation only site with select members.
What is one of the biggest lessons you have learned? Persistence is everything. You just have to believe. You must.
What advice would you give someone thinking about starting their own business?: 1.) Dream with complete abandonment – no barriers, no limits, no competition. 2.) Put your idea on paper. Plan, outline and plan. 3.) Get ready to execute.
What is the most gratifying thing about being a business owner?:
Being able to put all my crazy ideas into play.
What is the most challenging thing about being a business owner?: Capital. Raising, making, managing… capital.
3 words that describe you: Resourceful, enthusiastic, humble.
