Woman to Watch: Regina M. Gwynn

Name: Regina M. Gwynn

Hometown: Raised in Durham, NC (Go Duke Blue Devils!)

Current City: Jersey City, NJ

Roles you play in life: Daughter, Sister, Best Friend, Soror, Mentor, Executive

Education: MBA in Marketing & Entrepreneurship, The Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern Univerisity

Occupation:  Head of Marketing at The Apparel Group, a better/bridge women’s sportswear company in NYC.

3 words that describe you: Spiritual, Focused and Fun!

What is your favorite TV show?: Of all time? A Different World. But currently, I’m a Gleek (with a bit of Single Ladies for guilty pleasure….)

Shuffle your iPod – what’s the first song that comes up?: “Tightrope” Janelle Monae

What is your favorite travel destination?: Just one? Too hard. Top Three: Provencales, Turks & Caicos. Singapore, Liberia (the fish tasted just like my Aunt Diane’s!!)

What beauty product can’t you live without?: Water. It’s essential inside and out for natural hair.

Finish this sentence, “To feel more centered I…”: write down every single blessing that I am thankful for. That usually takes a while…..”

Who is your celebrity fashion inspiration?: Coco Chanel

What is your favorite restaurant?: BLT Fish in NYC – the scallops will change your life!

What words do you live by?: Romans 8:37 – “…in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us” Can you imagine that? God wants us not only to win, but to win definitively! In a landslide!! And that sounds good to me 🙂

What is one of your biggest accomplishments?: Working with Three Female Ballers, a US/Africa exchange program for student athletes in the tri-state area. Since 1999, we’ve taken 10-12 high-school basketball players from Newark, East Orange, and Jersey City to different African countries and make them junior coaches for a 2-week basketball camp. The growth that I see in my girls as they experience international travel, deal with a completely new cultural environment, work through language barriers and become more self-aware – is truly an amazing gift that I’m humbled to be a part of every summer.
