Education: Bachelor of Journalism from the Henry W. Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia (1982)

Why we’re “watching”: Deborah intrigues us. She’s a veteran of the industry, has an intelligent, thorough and thought-provoking interviewing style and always looks polished and very put together. Yet, we don’t hear much about Deborah.

Where you can watch her: ABC’s 20/20 and often as guest anchor on Good Morning America and correspondent on World News Weekend.

Career Path: Deborah spent her early career in local broadcast television at stations in Columbus, GA and Knoxville, TN and later became bureau chief and anchor of ABC affiliate WFTV-TV in Orlando, FL. She transitioned to network news in 1990 working for NBC News, which later resulted in her moving to Dateline NBC. Since joining the 20/20 team in 1995 she has appeared on several ABC news programs including World News Weekend and Good Morning America. For over 25 years Deborah has covered some of the most important and extraordinary stories of our time, and has interviewed prominent figures and celebrities including Michelle Obama, Jennifer Hudson, Suzanne Somers and Michael Oher.

Awards and Recognition: University of Georgia Distinguished Alumnus Award, Sports Emmy nomination (for her coverage of the 1992 Olympics).

Family Life: Married to America’s favorite weather man, Today Show’s Al Roker, and they have two children together: Leila and Nicholas.

Recent Appearance: Deborah recently visited the Gayle King Show and talked about the movie, The Help. Here’s a clip:
