What’s Happening in March?: Fundraising Events
You know how much we like to be out and about and support a good cause. So if you happen to be in these fine cities, and are looking for something fun and worthwhile to do, we encourage you to check out these events:
Chicago: “Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Legacy Gala” Dinner – March 25, 2011:
The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boys & Girls Club of Chicago is holding their 23rd annual King Legacy Gala to celebrate “Transforming Dreams Across Generations” at the Chicago Hyatt Regency Hotel, 151 E. Wacker Drive at 6:00pm. The Dr. Martin Luther King Boys & Girls Club of Chicago supports programs for young people in the East Garfield Park community. As many of you know, gun violence has escalated in communities like East Garfield Park and after-school hours are the most threatening time for young people. This club is a safe haven for the children in this community and is in dire need of financial support or else its doors may close. This fundraiser, which will also include a fabulous silent auction and raffles, can help this club continue to serve its community. To purchase tickets, contact Don Reed, Area Director of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Boys & Girls Club at 773- 638-5464 or via e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or you can make a contribution here.
Philadelphia: “Black Ties to Save Lives” – March 26, 2011:
E&J Promotions is holding the First Annual Celebrity “Black Ties to Save Lives” gala as a fundraiser for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital’s mission is to advance cures, and means of prevention, for children’s cancer and catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. On March 26, 2011 they will be hosting this elaborate event at the new Le Meridien Philadelphia Hotel located at 1421 Arch Street housed in a 10-story Georgian revival-style structure with intriguing historical flair that exudes striking features and architectural detail that awaken the eye. Chicago: “The Spring Escape 2011” – March 31, 2011
The Spring Escape 2011 (fundraiser for Jobs for Youth/Chicago) promises to be a phenomenal event with a cooking demo by Jimmy Bannos Jr. of The Purple Pig (VIP tickets only), fabulous food from Kendall College Chef’s in the making (the only culinary school restaurant recognized MICHELIN Guide Chicago), Wine Pull, custom cocktail tastings sponsored by Ketel One and much more! Jobs For Youth/Chicago helps young men and women from low-income families become a part of the economic mainstream; and, in the process, provides the business community with motivated job-ready workers. It’s a free program for teens and young adults ages 17 to 24 and, in the past couple of years, the organization has grown to include Customer Service Certifications, Electronic Health Records Training and a Post Secondary Education Bridge Program partnering with Kendall College. You can purchase tickets for The Spring Escape here.
