Are You Taking the March Meltdown Challenge?

We don’t know about you, but we feel like the older we get, the harder it becomes to keep weight off. Don’t you remember those college days when you would eat junk food and could burn it off in an instant, but these days you can’t burn off a glass of water? So many of our friends have been complaining too: getting older with a slowing metabolism, traveling all over the place for work and packing on the pounds, and, of course, gaining the baby weight that never goes away. Watching Jennifer Hudson show off her new body and losing 80 lbs after having a baby really inspired us to get it together. Then we thought, wouldn’t it be much better if we did this along with our Vyne readers? So we came up with March Meltdown!

What is March Meltdown? March Meltdown is a month long challenge where we are dedicating ourselves to losing those unwanted pounds in a healthy way. And even though 31 days may not be long enough to drop all of the weight you want to lose, it’s at least a great start! In each issue during the month of March we will share with you our experiences and progress on our journey and we’ll ask you to do the same. (Everything is always easier when you have encouragement from others also going through it, right?) We’ll also feature healthy food and drink recipes in our Sips and Savors of the Week so you won’t have to feel totally deprived.

So how are we going to do it? We have personally decided to try Weight Watchers’ online program. They’re even doing a special on both their online and meetings program until March 12th. But don’t feel like you have to do Weight Watchers – any program that helps you lose weight in a healthy way will suffice.

So tell us: Are you in??? Post a comment and let us know if you’re committed and, if so, what type of program you plan to follow. You can even tell us your goal. During each week we’ll post updates on our Facebook Page and Twitter, so make sure you keep up with us!

So just to kick it off, here are our goals:


Goal weight loss for the month of March: 8 pounds

    I applaud the Vyne for launching the “March Meltdown”, but I would like to encourage other efforts to increase the awareness of obesity in African-American women in subsequent issues. As African-American women are the group with the largest number of overweight and obese individuals when compared with any other gender or ethnicity in the United States, I feel as though any media that can be used to address this issue must be utilized to ensure that we make strides towards changing this dismal reality.

    Love the idea ladies! I am always on some type of weight loss plan so this immediately caught my eye. I’m in. My goal for March 8lbs….Good luck to us all.
