Taraji P. Henson’s Gets Naked for PETA Campaign

By Kailei Richardson

Taraji P. Henson is the latest celebrity to bare all for PETA’s “I’d Rather Go Naked Than Wear Fur” campaign. What moved Taraji to want to use her voice for PETA? She was forever changed after watching the documentary, “I am an Animal. Her perspective: “I don’t think a living being should suffer for the sake of fashion, period. End of story.”

I have to say, I gained a whole new level of respect for Taraji after watching her talk about her thoughts on wearing fur – even a little fur. And you know, it made me feel disgusted that I just “had to have” a rabbit fur jacket back when I was a child and “rocked” a vintage leather coat with a big fur collar and cuffs in college. At the time, I thought I was being stylish, and had absolutely no idea what went behind making that coat. Just thinking about it makes my stomach turn.

Though it may take some time to condition myself to steer clear from anything that even has a “smidgen” of animal fur, I will do my best. As Taraji said, having a living being suffer for the sake of fashion is not acceptable. “End of story.”

Watch a video of Taraji’s talking about why she wanted to be a part of the PETA campaign and tell us: do you think it’s okay to buy fur?

One Response to Taraji P. Henson’s Gets Naked for PETA Campaign

  1. Lisa says:

Good on her. Just last week I was sidetracked while in NYC to see the huge billboard of Janet Jackson wrapped up in fur in Times Square. When I was younger animal activists used to throw red paint on women wearing fur coats and every black woman over a certain age that I knew would be “I wish a mofo would throw paint on my coat”. Never understood how your desire to have something would numb you to the cost involved in the having. Cheaply made toys for your child, made by some child overseas. Diamonds for your ears and fingers harvested by the blood of someone who looks like you with money going to people who don’t look like you. Disgusting. I’m really proud of Taraji and like you have a whole new level of respect for her.
