The Week in Review: 9 Headlines You May Have Missed

There was so much going on in the news/celebrity news this week that it was hard to keep up! We know that all of you Vyne readers are busy bees, so if you weren’t glued to the tube or Twitter, you may have missed some of the headlines. So in case you did, here’s what happened this week:
1. Eliminated! This week on Dancing with the Stars, the remaining four contestants competed for a spot in the finale show, taking place next week. Brandy Norwood and Bristol Palin were in the bottom two and, despite a perfect score for her Argentine tango performance, Brandy was eliminated. That’s right, Bristol Palin is competing in the finals. Read about it here.
2. Sexy? People Magazine announced their pick for their annual “Sexiest Man Alive” issue. Men who have graced that issue’s cover in the past have included Denzel Washington, George Clooney and Brad Pitt. So when they announced that Ryan Reynolds was chosen as this year’s “Sexiest Man Alive” many of us were left with a big ol’ questions mark on our face.
3. Launched! French designer Lanvin (brush up on your French pronounciation here) teamed up with H&M to launch a feminine, yet playful collection. Doors opened at 8am this morning and H&Ms far and wide had long lines that had started forming in the wee hours of the morning. The verdict? Gorgeous pieces, but we had a hard time paying $200 for a dress from H&M, even though it was Lanvin. Check out the Lanvin for H&M collection here.
4. Steamy! Beyonce recently released a new commercial for her fragrance, Heat that has has been deemed too hot for daytime TV. That’s right, the UK has banned the commercial from being shown until after 7:30pm. Do you think it’s too hot for daytime? Check out the commercial here.
5. Sold! This week Johnson Publishing Company (publisher of Ebony and Jet magazines) announced it is selling it’s downtown Chicago building to Columbia College. The company is looking for a new home and will lease the building out to Columbia College for the next 18 months.
6. Engaged! After almost a decade of dating, Prince William decided to “put a ring on it” and proposed to Kate Middleton. The ring had been Princess Diana’s, which she wore even after her divorce from Prince Charles. Expect to see headlines flooded with every little detail of their wedding preparations over the next several months.
7. Expecting! It’s ba-na-nas! Rachel Zoe and hubby Rodger are expecting their first child – as Rachel announced on Twitter earlier this week. We are excited for the couple and also excited to see what fabulous maternity gear Rachel rocks over the next few months.
8. Divorcing! This week Eva Longoria filed for divorce from Tony Parker after less than four years of marriage. Cheating on this beautiful woman is bad enough, but allegedly cheating on Eva with his former teammate’s wife? Now that’s just lower than low.
9. Frenzy! Sniffle, sniffle…on Friday Oprah aired her final Favorite Things episode and no, we were not invited. But those who were there were showered with diamond watches, beautiful Judith Ripka earrings, a cruise to the Caribbean, 3D televisions, Tory Burch shoes and tote, and much, much more. The reactions of the surprised audience members when Oprah announced the topic of the show: priceless! Check out Oprah’s Ultimate Favorite Things list here.
