Woman to Watch: Amy Ellis-Simon

Occupation: Managing Director and Head, Middle Markets and Multi-Product Sales at Merrill Lynch

Education: University of Michigan, BA – History

Career Path: Amy started at Merrill Lynch as a college intern and landed a job as an analyst in the Debt and Equity Training program after graduating from college in 1994. Since then she has climbed up the ranks at Merrill Lynch, including selling convertible securities to institutional clients for 14 years.

Accomplishments: First black woman to become a managing director in investment banking at Merrill Lynch, co-founder of the Global Markets and Investment Banking Women’s Leadership Council, and a founder and chairperson of Three Sisters Scholarship Foundation.

Accolades: Named in Crain’s magazine’s “Top 40 under 40”

Board Member of: Board member and Vice-chairperson at Sponsors for Educational Opportunity (SEO) – a program designed to develop leaders in communities of color through college preparatory programs and internships on Wall Street.
