Carla Hall – OUR Top Chef
She may not have won Bravos T.V.’s prestigious title of Top Chef, but Carla Hall, Chef and Owner of Alchemy Caterers in Washington, D.C., definitely won our hearts. As the show’s first black female to make it to the finale, Carla dazzled the judges with her blend of soulful southern cooking and classic French training from L’Acadamie de Cuisine in Maryland.
A graduate of Howard University, Carla began her career as an accountant. After working for PWC she decided to shake up her career and began modeling on the high fashion runways of Paris, Milan and London. It was during those days that she bought her first cookbooks and started experimenting with recipes. On a whim one day, she brought lunch to a friend and was fast approached to begin regularly delivering lunch for the office. Carla’s lunch delivery service was just the start to her wildly successful career with food.
She was known on the show for serving her food with love. So Carla, we’re serving the love right back! Kudos to you Chef Carla for being such a positive representation for all women.
